How polluted is your home?
VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are gases that are emitted from manufacturing processes and manufactured goods. They can lead to immediate and long term effects on health.
When we think of air quality we often think of pollution, however air quality is just as important in places, like your home, workplace and school.
TEAM studies indicated that while people are using products containing organic chemicals, they can expose themselves and others to very high pollutant levels, and elevated concentrations can persist in the air long after the activity is completed. These products are relatively common in our homes because we use them regularly, like air fresheners, paint and dyrwall (gympsum).
We now spend approximately 90% of our time at home, amongst air that is up to 10 times more polluted than outside. These two stats mean that air quality in homes is dramatically altered and the air quality in our living spaces are making us sick.
